2023 - Present
The primary objective of GTG is to empower survivors and individuals in distress by providing easily accessible mental health resources. Built using modern web technologies, GTG delivers a user-friendly, responsive and supportive platform that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. It offers coping tools and resources designed for individuals experiencing moments of distress, created with insights from mental health professionals and survivors. GTG bridges the gap for people who may not have immediate access to professional treatment, acting as a complementary tool for ongoing therapy or as an initial resource for those not yet ready to seek professional help.
Challenges: Integrating multiple technologies (Next.js, WordPress, Laravel) while maintaining seamless performance and accessibility across different devices and browsers.
Users facing mental distress often lack immediate access to professional support, and existing resources may not be user-friendly, personalised, or accessible across devices. GTG needed a platform that delivers reliable coping tools, personalised recommendations, and supportive resources in real time.
Challenges: Ensuring smooth user authentication across WordPress and Laravel, effectively managing data with Laravel’s Eloquent ORM, syncing WordPress content with the Next.js frontend, and handling video playback issues on Safari when using Vimeo.
GTG implemented a robust multi-technology architecture combining Next.js, WordPress, and Laravel to deliver a secure, responsive, and scalable mental health support platform. The platform personalises content based on user activity and enables users to save favourite resources and track progress.
Challenges Faced During the Project: Handling complex authentication flow across WordPress and Laravel, managing a unified database efficiently, integrating a CMS for content delivery, and ensuring video playback compatibility across browsers.
Solutions Implemented: Implemented cross-platform authentication using browser local storage to ensure seamless login across both WordPress and Laravel. A unified database was managed to streamline and simplify data operations between the two systems. WordPress was integrated as a CMS through custom plugins and APIs, enabling smooth synchronization of content with the Next.js frontend. Additionally, a custom video player was developed to overcome Safari/Vimeo playback issues, ensuring consistent and reliable video performance across all major browsers.
